Well, on March 30th I shall be attending Emerald City Comicon, here in Seattle, Washington. :) Here's the main website for this particular con: http://www.emeraldcitycomicon.com/
I haven't been to a convention since Wizard World in Philadelphia back in 2008 [I think... ^_^;] I do remember that Kenny Baker and Peter Mayhew (Actors who were R2-D2 and Chewbacca in the Star Wars films) were there. I saw them, but didn't have the guts to walk up and say anything to them. Ah... missed opportunities.
Anyway, there are going to be quite a few awesome guests on this convention this year. In particular, several voice actors and actresses caught my eye: Tara Strong, Kevin Conroy and Maurice LaMarche, for starters! (Must... get... autographs! ...If I get a chance!)
I was also hoping that maybe, just maybe, some members of Sonic Paradox (The group behind the Sonic Shorts volumes) might also be attending, but sadly, I happen to be the only contributing member of Sonic Paradox living in the Pacific Northwest. ^_^; Although many of the upper-level members of Sonic Paradox are hoping to attend Youmacon http://www.youmacon.com/ later this year. :)
Well, that's all for now. See you all later!
DO NOT update any of your submissions (Movies/Games/Audio/Art) if they have fairly long titles.
Otherwise, the end of the title may get chopped off due to the site redesign. I found this problem when adding new icons to my audio submissions.
For example, when I added some new icons to a few of my songs, this is what happened:
"Sonic- Green Hill Zone Piano" became "Sonic- Green Hill Zone Pi"
"Sonic- Twinkle Circuit Piano" became "Sonic- Twinkle Circuit Pi"
On top of that, there is no way to edit the title of these submissions at this time.
This problem affects all submissions, so beware. Do not update your submissions if they have long-ish titles, otherwise you will be stuck with titles that are missing letters or words.
I hope the character limit for submission titles will be increased soon. As much I as like the site redesign, lowering the character limit for the titles of our submissions and not giving us an option to at least try and fix them does not seem like a step in the right direction, eh?

Its been a pretty crazy week for me. Mostly because I was able to put the finishing touches on several more tracks. :) Without further ado, here are 6 more piano/electronic covers, by John Weeks and myself, of songs from the 1994 Sega Genesis classic, Sonic & Knuckles. Hope you all enjoy these.

Sonic-Flying Battery A2 Piano http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen /451562
Sonic-SandopolisZoneA1 Piano http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen /451885
Sonic-SandopolisZoneA2 Piano http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen /451886
Sonic- LavaReefZoneA1 Piano http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen /452032
Sonic- LavaReefZoneA2 Piano http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen /452034
More tracks are on the way. At this rate, I'll probably have a complete fan-album of the music from Sonic & Knuckles before I finish the Sonic 2 album I've been working on! :laughs:
In fact, using the link below, you can download John Weeks' and my Sonic 1 fan-album, called "Sonic the Hedgehog- Piano Redux" from my website, Birdtown Studios. Enjoy!
Once upon a time in the Newgrounds Audio Portal, your songs were given a designation depending on how many times they had been downloaded. Those designations were:
0-499 Downloads = Audio Track
500-999 Downloads = Gold Track
1000-2499 Downloads = Platinum Track
2500-4999 Downloads = Double Platinum Track
5000+ Downloads = Diamond Track
That being said, I now have a total of 4 songs that would have been considered Gold Tracks under the previous version of the Audio Portal! These tunes are:
"Sonic- Green Hill Zone Piano" http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen /333326
"Sonic- Casino Night Zone Piano" http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen /342274
"Sonic 3- Hydrocity Act 1 Piano" http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen /359619
"Sonic- Green Grove Act 1 Piano" http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen /405191
I'm very glad that so many Newgrounders have enjoyed these songs! There certainly are plenty more on the way. Thanks a lot for the support, everyone! See you next time. :)
First off, I think it's safe to say that I've taken a big step forward as a music composer as I ended up writing the entire soundtrack for a Flash game known as "Robots VS Zombi" (3 complete songs, 2 jingles). Got to do some level design for this game as well!
"Robots VS Zombi" is a tower defense game: and a rather good one, if you ask me. Too bad there were a number of major bugs in the game during its first day or so in the Portal, but those have been taken care of quite successfully. This game can be played on Newgrounds using this link: http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/
If you do check out this game, I hope you enjoy it, as well as the soundtrack. :)
...and a third track I put together quickly:
"Industrial Ruins- Stillness" http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen /432467
Well, this certainly is very encouraging, especially for an amateur-level composer such as myself. Guess I better get some more original tracks together in the next month or so. :)
In celebration of the 20th anniversary of Sonic the Hedgehog, here is a complete album, made by John Weeks and myself: covers of all the songs and jingles from the first Sonic the Hedgehog game (Released on the Sega Genesis in 1991) redone in a piano/electronic arrangement.
The tracks in this album have been posted in the Audio Portal over the last year. For your convenience, using the link below, you will have the option to download the entire album at once as a .ZIP archive by clicking the image labeled "Dropbox", or you can download one track at a time through Soundcloud. Enjoy!

Once again, my computer's internal hard drive has failed me. I guess that's the price I pay for trying to keep a 6+ year old laptop computer running while I desperately try to save up for a new workstation. Last week, I turned on my PC. It had been working just fine the previous day. After I got passed the BIOS screen, all I got was a black screen with a flashing cursor. I tried everything from rebooting to using every trick I could manage from the Windows XP repair console. Nothing worked, so I was forced to again format the drive and start from scratch for the 4th time in the last year. I bet I need a new hard drive, but since a new one will cost anywhere from $100 to $200+ and money is extremely tight for me, I guess I'll just have to tough it out for the next several months until I can finally purchase a new computer. It definitely is going to be a desktop system this time with a 4-year premium warranty.
I thought I had everything backed up: sadly, this was not the case. While I did manage to save practically everything from my hard drive due to a recent backup to an external 2 Terabyte hard drive. Unfortunately, I had completely forgotten to backup a folder near the root directory of my PC's hard drive. This folder had ALL the new tracks I had been working on rearranging. From Metropolis Zone from Sonic 2 to Sky Sanctuary and Death Egg Zone Act 1 from Sonic & Knuckles, among other things.
The loss of my piano/electronic arrangement of Metropolis Zone is especially nasty as I had put several days of work into it and had nearly gotten it completed. Oh, well...
Note to self: keep your stuff backed up and make doubly certain not to forget anything!
Well, back to the drawing board. Needless to say, any future audio releases from me have now been delayed indefinitely.
Over the next two days, I am going to submit a total of 6 new electronic/piano remakes of several songs from some Sonic the Hedgehog games. I'll be updating this article as I submit these songs. Keep an eye out for updates and I hope you enjoy these tracks! :)
"Sonic 3- Angel Island Piano A1" http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen /418180
"Sonic 3- Angel Island Piano A2" http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen /418181
"Sonic- Mushroom Hill Piano A1" http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen /418384

"Sonic 2- Hill Top Zone Piano" http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen /418593
I have a lot coming up around Wednesday next week! I plan on submitting six new Sonic music electronic/piano covers: 2 each day until I have the lot posted. Keep an eye out for these new tracks:
"Sonic 3- Angel Island Piano A1"
"Sonic 3- Angel Island Piano A2"
"Sonic- Mushroom Hill Piano A1"
"Sonic- Mushroom Hill Piano A2"
"Sonic 2- Aquatic Ruin Piano"
"Sonic 2- Hill Top Zone Piano"
I hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend. See you next time! :)
With some help from my younger brother (Newgrounds ID: Aaraboga), I now have a new song finished and online!
"Industrial Intrusion" http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen /413303
Also, a looping version of this song is available at this link: http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen /413304
More or less, this tune is a "Frantic" version of my first composition, "industrial Ruins", which can be found here: http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen /378759
If you ask me, this track would probably be at home in a fast-paced game or as a good BGM for a boss battle, among other things. I have some more original songs in the works that I hope to finish in the next few weeks of so, as well as some more Sonic the Hedgehog piano/electronic renditions. Until then, I hope you enjoy mine and Aaraboga's latest track and I'll catch you all later! :)
